Idea
  • People sign up to go on a date, they fill out applications as to what they are looking for in a partner.
  • Before the date, a film crew follow their daily lives around. The producers then make a short film about their life, choosing clips with no context. The contestants know that they're being filmed, but not which clips will be used. The producers can play on what the contestants date dislikes to raise tensions before the date. The short film is then shown to their matched up date and their film is shown to the other contestant.
  • They then go on a date
  • The date should be interesting as the dates will have to explain their short films to each other.
  • If the couple choose to stay together, they get to see the context of each clip and are then sent off for another week of having their lives filmed.
  • There will be 6 weeks of the show running with 6 couples in the beginning and just 1 in the last week. If they stay together on the last date they win a holiday together.
  • In each week, if too many couples leave the show, new ones are added and if all couples want to stay, the public vote one off.
Name
  • Could be called 'Last Dates' to reference First Dates which is also on E4. This implies that the first dates are often the last dates on the show and that the very last date is what the contestants are aiming to be on.
Posters
  • The posters will have pictures of the contestants doing things that their date are unlikely to approve of on.
  • Each will reference a movie/iconic poster for intertextuality.
  • The logo will have formal typography which is almost sarcastic in the informal nature of the show.
  • We could feature the same people from first dates (the people working in the restaurant)
  • I could use iconic disney scenes or other films or just iconic scenes but funny. Maybe use Titanic and Elf
  • I can use the backgrounds of the iconic scenes and put the people in maybe but this might be against copyright.

Intro to the show
  • The structure of the show will go intro to person, films with slightly more context and other events yet not a whole lot as this will need to be done for 12 contestants within an hour/hour and a half show. You will then see the persons date watch the videos, the show will cut between the two focusing on talking points and shocking moments. There will also be cuts in the intros if it's realistic. As the number of couples decreases, you will see more of the context of each clip and more of the dates. After the viewings you will see the dates and then finally the result as the whether the couple want to stay together. If this goes to public vote the results are released in the next weeks show.
  • There will be comedians voicing over and presenting the show.
  • Throughout the show there will be quick studio interviews with questions like 'how do you feel that your date was doing this, this and this last week?'
  • At the end there will be a 'coming out' show revealing everything that's happened since.
  • Interviews will be called after the dinner of the date and at the end.
Scenes
  • Elf
  • Makeup
  • All scenes will be similar headshots to imply that you don't get the full picture.
  • Watergun
  • Surprised face (possibly x2, 1 girl, 1 boy)
Aesthetic
  • Title will be in cursive style writing in red.
  • The subtitles will be in handwriting
  • There will be love hearts around the border of the page
Cast
  • 2 girls and 2 boys between 16-25.
  • Comedian for voice-over and first dates staff
